New hotel eyed in Iowa City
A four-story, 94-room Hampton Inn could be the first piece in the city of Iowa City’s ambitious Riverfront Crossings plans, and the development could break ground as soon as next summer, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported. Hawkeye Hotels Vice President Ravi Patel, the older brother of Iowa City Council candidate and University of Iowa student Raj Patel, said his family-operated, Burlington-based business intends to build an $8 million project on the west side of the Iowa River on Riverside Drive.
