Midwesterners are remodeling their way through the economic recovery, according to a report today from the National Association of Home Builders. The association’s remodeling market index increased to 46.8 percent in the Midwest, from 44 percent, and to 47.1 percent in the South, from 42.9 percent. The overall index dropped to 41.7 percent in the third quarter, from 43.9 percent, the home builder’s group said. All components of the index – additions, minor additions, maintenance and repair – dropped, as did future market indicators, such as calls for bids.
