Sixty-eight percent of the nation’s highway contractors had motor vehicles crash into their construction work zones during the past year, according to the results of a new highway work zone study conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America. Twenty-eight percent of contractors said their workers were injured during work zone crashes this past year, and 18 percent had at least one construction worker killed during those crashes, according to a news release. More than 50 percent of work zone crashes injure vehicle operators or users, and 15 percent of those crashes kill them, according to a study by the contractors group.
