The United Way of Central Iowa honored 11 organizations and individuals at its annual Live United recognition luncheon this afternoon. Meredith Corp. won the Spirit of Central Iowa recognition, which is given to a company or organization that improves community conditions in education, income and health. Other organizations recognized for the categories of “Give,” “Advocate” or “Volunteer” were Kum & Go LLC; Sammons Financial Group; The Principal Financial Group; Delta Dental of Iowa; Link Associates; Wells Fargo & Co.; West Bank; and FBL Financial Group Inc. Additionally, Shane Schulte from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Jill Thompson Hansen from West Bank each received the Individual Advocate Award for their contributions.
