Iowans are urged to take part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA’s) latest National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 28.

The event aims to prevent pill theft and abuse across the nation. Outdated or unused medications can be disposed at 100 sites across the state. Most sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Since 2010, DEA’s semiannual Take-Back events in Iowa have yielded more than 10,000 pounds of unwanted or expired medications for safe and proper disposal.
