Two new health-related events in Greater Des Moines will showcase how Iowans can improve their health by eating better. On Jan. 10 at 5 p.m., Healthy for Life University will host an inaugural Healthy Iowa Expo at Point of Grace Church, 305 N.E. Dartmoor Drive, Waukee.

More than three dozen exhibitors will offer information about locally grown foods, whole food restaurants and other resources, as well as cooking demonstrations and presentations by talk radio host Steve Deace and Jake Velie, a food sourcing and lifestyle education expert.

On Jan. 11, the American Heart Association will host a legislative breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Statehouse. Members of the public who are passionate about ending heart disease and stroke are also invited to attend this free event.
