The Neighborhood Development Corp. (NDC) will complete its final phase of redevelopment on East Grand Avenue with a project at 1552 E. Grand Ave. that will break ground this summer.

The building at that address will be demolished and a 5,800-square-foot building will be constructed on the site. The new one-story retail building will house five bays. The site plan for the $900,000 project already has been approved by the city.

Karen Jeske, executive director of the NDC, said the organization has been approached by prospective tenants. “We have had a lot of interest from businesses in that area,” she said. “We really see that corridor as evolving into a restaurant and service area.”

This new building will wrap up five years and more than $2 million of redevelopment efforts from the NDC in the East Grand area. “We’re excited about it,” Jeske said, “and I think when people see this building and the others we’ve done, it’s really going to signal how this area is going to change and become more vibrant.”
