Associated Computer Systems Ltd. (ACS), an Urbandale-based technology company, has opened the first IBM-certified BladeCenter and Storage Solutions Center (BSSC) in the Midwest and the second in the nation.

The center will demonstrate the strength and benefits of blade and storage technology and feature products such as the BladeCenter S Chassis (pictured). BladeCenter S has a server, storage, input-output connections to a network and software integrated into a single chassis (framework for the technology).

“(The BladeCenter S Chassis) is the first IBM BladeCenter designed expressly for small businesses,” said Karlee Carrasco, marketing coordinator for ACS. “It is just for small to medium(-sized) businesses looking to consolidate and simplify their server infrastructure.”

ACS added specific hardware and software technologies to its Technology Solutions Lab, along with certified technicians to receive the BSSC certification. The company went through the certification process “to be one of the first and only,” Carrasco said.

Ed Jensen founded ACS, which now employs 25 staff members, in 1980. The company’s sales and support cover Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
