Iowa Health System has named Michael Murphy, an executive with a Michigan-based health system, as president and CEO of its accountable care organization (ACO). Previously, Murphy led the accountable care development and clinical integration programs at Trinity Health in Novi, Mich. In his new role, Murphy will lead Iowa Health System in “transitioning the organization from a fee-for-service reimbursement environment to one that rewards exceptional clinical care and cost effectiveness,” the organization said in a release. Bill Leaver, president and CEO of Iowa Health System, said the addition to the leadership team is another step toward becoming a physician-driven organization.
