Partnership collaborates on entrepreneurial network
Some Super Bowl ads were hits and others were groaners, but a spot aired yesterday by the Kauffman Foundation could be the big ticket to help aspiring entrepreneurs in Central Iowa.
The foundation’s “Will it be You?” campaign encouraged entrepreneurs to visit www.willitbeyou.com to find resources to help them get started on turning their big ideas into big opportunities, using U.S. SourceLink, www.ussourcelink.com a national resource network for entrepreneurs.
This summer, the Greater Des Moines Partnership plans to launch Central Iowa SourceLink, a tool that will provide one central source for all of Greater Des Moines and Central Iowa’s small business resources. The initiative stems from a recommendation in the Capital Crossroads economic development vision plan released last November.
“Every new small business, start-up enterprise or entrepreneurial endeavor can one day grow to become a community’s largest employer,” said Jay Byers, CEO of the Partnership and a member of the Capital Crossroads coordinating committee. “Therefore, it is incumbent that regions support entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers and fledgling small business people as robustly as possible in all facets of the development process.”
There are currently about 20 SourceLink networks across the country. The program was founded by the Kauffman Foundation, University of Missouri-Kansas City and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Nonprofit services providers interested in joining the network should email Meg Fitz at the Partnership mfitz@desmoinesmetro.com, or call the Partnership at 286-4950.
