Otter Tail AG Enterprises will put its 55-million-gallon-a-year ethanol plant in Fergus Falls, Minn., up for auction on Feb. 16, Bloomberg reported. At auction, the $62.54 million opening bid will come from Omaha-based Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc., which owns eight ethanol plants with a combined capacity of 657 million gallons per year, including three plants in Iowa. Green Plains is the fourth-largest ethanol producer in North America. Its bid consists of $55 million in cash and assumed debt, plus an adjustment for inventories. Otter Tail filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in October. The plant began operating in March 2008.
