Construction materials prices keep climbing
For the fifth consecutive month, prices for construction materials increased in February, rising 1.1 percent, according to Wednesday’s Producer Price Index report by the Department of Labor. Year-over-year, construction material prices are up 6.1 percent. Steel mill product prices jumped 4.7 percent for the month and are up 13.3 percent year-over-year. However, the price of softwood lumber declined 2.7 percent in February, although it was up 0.2 percent from a year ago.
