Redistricting puts congressmen together

The proposed reconfiguration of Iowa’s congressional and state legislative districts would put Republican Congressmen Tom Latham and Steve King in the new 4th Congressional District, and Democratic Congressmen Bruce Braley and Dave Loebsack in the new 1st Congressional District, leaving the 2nd district with no incumbent.

The plan cannot be amended and must move to a full floor vote in one chamber. A Temporary Redistricting Advisory Commission (TRAC) will conduct public hearings from April 4-7 and submit a report to the governor and Legislature, likely on April 8. The earliest the plan can be considered on either chamber floor is April 13.
