Hussmann and Trane recognized Kum & Go LC with the “Energy Efficiency Leader Award” for its commitment to environmental stewardship. The West Des Moines-based convenience store chain, which recently opened five new stores that are each expected to consume 20 percent less energy than a traditional store, received the award during a ceremony on Tuesday at its new Urbandale location. The other stores are located in Mount Vernon, Mo., Springdale and Bentonville, Ark., and Clive. The award recognized Kum & Go for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions that easily can be modified to meet future industry trends and demands.
