Flags flown at half-staff for soldiers
Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Monday in honor of two Iowa soldiers: Sgt. Brent Maher, who was killed on April 11 in Afghanistan, and Spc. Donald Nichols, who was killed on April 13 in Afghanistan.
Branstad has cleared his public schedule on Friday and Saturday to attend the soldiers’ funeral services.
