EPA kicks off Energy Star building competition
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star program launched its annual National Building Competition. Teams representing 245 commercial buildings around the country will contend for the “Battle of the Buildings” championship. Using Portfolio Manager, the EPA’s online energy tracking tool, the teams will measure and track their respective buildings’ monthly energy consumption. Among a group of finalists that will be chosen in July, the commercial building with the largest percentage reduction in energy use will be recognized as the winner in November.
