HUD secretary announces disaster assistance
Shaun Donovan, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announced that the agency will hasten federal disaster assistance to the state of Iowa and provide support to homeowners and low-income renters forced to flee their homes following severe weather.
President Barack Obama issued a disaster declaration for the state of Iowa on Thursday, and HUD is offering entitlement communities an opportunity to reallocate existing resources toward relief efforts. To read more about the programs, click here.
