Dwolla announces release of Grid to protect against fraud
Dwolla Corp. announced today the release of its newest technology, Grid, which is designed to protect against credit card fraud. Dwolla will allow access to core technologies – such as social and location-based payments – and its cash-based, 25-cent flat-fee payment network for distribution in third party applications.
Grid will allow users to oversee the payment permissions granted to third parties, and allow users to be able to change or revoke these relationships at any time.
The company said Grid will build off a new type of authorization process to remove the ability of merchants and other platforms to store vulnerable customer data that could be used to commit fraud.
Dwolla CEO Ben Milne said in a press release that Grid will position Dwolla as “the secure, low-cost cash option in the emerging virtual wallet against plastic options like Visa and MasterCard.”
