I-Cubs, CISS partner to help homeless veterans
Central Iowa Shelter & Services (CISS) has partnered with the Iowa Cubs in a project to show support for homeless veterans in Greater Des Moines. CISS is competing for a $50,000 grant by collecting volunteer-made quilt squares, which will be sewn together to make quilts for homeless veterans. On Sept. 1 during the I-Cubs game, fans can show their support by bringing cloth squares and writing messages to veterans. Donations of cloth squares can also be dropped off at CISS’ office at 205 15th St. during business hours through Sept. 13.
