The Des Moines Area Religious Council’s MovetheFood initiative will partner with the Wednesday Market, which starts this Wednesday in Western Gateway Park, to run a food rescue program called “RE:plenish.”

MovetheFood will accept donations of fresh produce to support its 12-site food pantry network.

The program is hoping to accept unsold products that vendors would otherwise throw away at the close of the market, and will also accept cash donations and donated items from attendees. The Wednesday Market will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week until Oct. 5.
