Baker Group LLC, a Des Moines-based specialty contractor, announced this morning it has purchased Quint-Co Inc., a building automation systems and services company based in Moline, Ill. With the acquisition, Quint-Co joins Baker Group’s controls business unit, the group responsible for providing integration of complete building systems solutions. Former Quint-Co owner Len Spindel will lead the Quad-Cities office for Baker Group, which said it will retain Quint-Co’s existing staff of about eight workers. The acquisition increases Baker Group’s presence in eastern Iowa, where it currently has a Cedar Rapids office. Baker Group now has more than 300 employees statewide.
