Report shows state’s youth population growing in larger counties
Iowa’s most rapid population changes are taking place among its youngest residents, the Child and Family Policy Center said in a report released yesterday. The report analyzed and mapped data from the 2000 and 2010 U.S. Census data for Iowa, each of its 99 counties and five major cities.
Findings showed that the state’s child population decreased, but in general grew close to or well above the national average in large counties while seeing substantial declines in small counties.
