KCCI television won three Regional Emmy Awards from the Upper Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The station won an Emmy for the categories of Weather: Continuing Coverage, Sports: Program Series and Director: Newscast.

The weather Emmy was for a compilation of work from the station’s “Blizzard of ‘09” coverage. The sports award was for the special segment “Harrison Barnes: Eye of the Storm.” The director award was given to KCCI senior director Amy Schmelzer.

The Upper Midwest Emmy region consists of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, western Wisconsin and all of Iowa outside the Davenport-Waterloo area.
