Dean Snyder Construction of Clear Lake submitted the lowest of three bids for the Des Moines International Airport aircraft maintenance facility project. The city of Des Moines Engineering Department’s estimate totaled $9.784 million. The Des Moines International Airport Board granted approval to Snyder and its bid of $9,268,600.52 at its Feb. 5 meeting. However, the board’s approval is contingent upon approval from the Des Moines City Council of a long-term lease. The project will include construction of a 79,975-square-foot building, capable of housing four regional jets with approximately 65,000 square feet of hangar bay and 14,975 square feet of maintenance and parts rooms, and administration offices. An employee parking lot will also be constructed outside the building.
