Knapp Properties Inc. has found a new tenant to occupy the former headquarters of Marsh Inc.’s Iowa division in the West Lakes Office Park. The Iowa Foundation for Medical Care will move into the two signature buildings at 1776 West Lakes Parkway, just off University Avenue.

The 270,000 square feet of space will allow IFMC to consolidate its operations and continue to expand; at present, the foundation has more than 100 positions open. It currently occupies 174,000 square feet in three buildings, including two that Knapp Properties owns at 6000 and 4949 Westown Parkway. The move won’t take place until January 2009.

“Moving our headquarters to West Lakes allows us to combine all of our business units in one location, which enhances communication, increases productivity and offers our employees and associates a quality space,” said Don Lovasz, CEO of IFMC, in a press release.

The two-building campus at 1776 West Lakes was originally developed for Kirke-Van Orsdel Inc., and housed Marsh for the past 10 years. In December Marsh announced a $31 million expansion of its Urbandale facility at Paragon Office Park. Employees at its West Lakes location will move there this year.

IFMC is focused on health-care quality improvement and medical information management. It has more than 1,000 employees and associates, with offices in West Des Moines, Illinois, Maryland, Oklahoma and Nevada, and nearly $100 million in annual revenues.
