She wanted to do something to help those entrepreneurs out, and thus, dsmBuzz.com was born.

The site gives small, locally owned businesses a place to advertise their goods and services free of charge. Consumers can join the site, log on and find discounts on items from the businesses that are on the site.

“I call them perks,” Borzo said. “They are ways to support these people who have invested in our community.”

For example, a locally owned restaurant places an advertisement on the Web site. Consumers can buy a $10 membership card to dsmBuzz.com, which makes them eligible for a perk that the restaurant might offer, such as 20 percent off a dinner.

Borzo said the site currently has 45 business and more than 100 consumer members.

The site also includes a podcast of interviews with some successful entrepreneurs.
