Volunteers needed for AAU Junior Olympic Games

143 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyGreater Des Moines is gearing up to host over 12,000 athletes and their families for the 2023 AAU Junior Olympic Games from July 26 to Aug. 5. Recognized as one of the largest youth multisport events in the United States, according to the AAU, this event relies heavily on the support of volunteers. Catch Des Moines President and CEO Greg Edwards emphasized the crucial role volunteers play in elevating the event’s success. Participants will compete in more than 10 sports across the 11-day event. Volunteer positions are available in various areas, including registration, crowd control, setup and tear-down, hospitality and assisting with the different sports. The event will be held at venues around the Des Moines metro, including the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, Drake Stadium and Wellmark YMCA. Individuals, companies and groups can register to volunteer via Catch Des Moines’ volunteer registration site.
