Iowa’s unemployment rate ticks up to 3%

105 wordsAll Latest News, Economic DevelopmentIowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September increased slightly to 3%, the second straight month the rate has increased, Iowa Workforce Development reported today. In addition, Iowa’s labor force participation rate was 68.6% in September, down from 68.7% in August. The state agency attributed the drop to college students leaving the workforce to return to school. The number of unemployed Iowans increased to 52,800 in September, up 5.1% from August when there were 50,200 unemployed people in the state.
