The city of Urbandale is asking community members to develop a new design for the city flag that captures the essence of the Urbandale community. The existing flag has flown over Urbandale for more than 20 years and was the result of a community-wide effort in 2000. While still honoring that flag, Urbandale is now seeking a new design that reflects the city’s history, growth and continued progress, according to a press release. The city is inviting all members of the community to participate in the design process. Input on flag design elements opened Monday and will close Jan. 31, 2024. A Flag Design Committee, including representatives from the Urbandale Historical Society, the Public Art Committee, graphic artists, designers, elected officials and city staff, will help guide the process. The new flag will be unveiled in June 2024 at the Mayor’s Annual State of the City Address.  For more information about the project and how to participate, click here.
