IWD awards Registered Apprenticeship grants

111 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Government Policy and LawIowa Workforce Development has announced new awards for its annual Registered Apprenticeship grants. The grant funds, which involve two different programs, will support both existing and new programs in Registered Apprenticeship. Approximately $3.6 million total is being awarded to programs that are sponsoring 5,344 apprentices across Iowa. According to a news release 28 programs are receiving awards to support new programs and 67 programs were awarded under the Iowa Apprenticeship Act, which supports annual funding for ongoing apprenticeship programs. Iowa is also currently developing the Iowa Office of Apprenticeship to better encourage innovation and effective program development, the news release said.
