The Des Moines Art Center has announced a new partnership with Des Moines bakery la mie and its owners, Joe and Christina Logsdon, after being closed since December 2023. Together they will launch the Art Center Café, presented by la mie, a full-service eatery that will operate out of the Art Center’s café. New features include banquet style seating, a community table where diners can eat solo or with others, a full menu of coffee and espresso beverages, and a kid-friendly menu, a news release said. The café will reopen in late spring, the release said. “We’re thrilled to work in collaboration with la mie to welcome guests back to our beautiful café and Bookey Family Courtyard, where they can once again dine and relax in comfort and style,” said John and Mary Pappajohn Director and CEO Kelly Baum in a prepared statement. “Joe and Christina bring enormous expertise and creativity to this endeavor. Thanks to their brilliance and dedication, we have been able to reinvent our café and bring the spirit of the much-loved la mie to the Art Center.”
