The Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe announced its grand opening will be May 31 at 7 a.m. at 300 S.W. Fifth Street, in downtown Des Moines after almost six years of operating as a pop-up. The Rook Room will offer 700-plus board games, puzzles and tabletop role-playing games available for guests to play as well as food and beverage options, including a game-themed cocktail menu, specialty coffee drinks and game night snacks. “Creating a place to play for gamers of all types has always been that goal we’ve been shooting for,” co-founder Tony Tandeski said in a statement. “We’ve been building an audience over the last six years, and now we’re excited to finally invite them, along with everyone else, into the space they’ve been telling us they want from the very beginning.”
