Youth rodeo to bring 1,300 students to Des Moines June 22-28

The 2025 National Junior High Finals Rodeo will take place at the Iowa State Fairgrounds June 22-28. With competitors from all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Australia and Mexico, the weeklong event is the largest junior high rodeo in the world. Thousands of junior high school rodeo athletes will compete in 13 events ranging from bareback steer riding and bull riding to barrel racing, goat tying, team roping and breakaway roping. Daily rodeo performances are scheduled at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., culminating in the championship round on June 28 at 7 p.m. The performances are open to the public. A news release said there may be as many as 1,400 students attending this year.
