Iowa’s State Historical Society hires new curator

Howard previously was coordinator for Iowa’s National History Day. In that role, she coordinated regional, state and national contests. In her new role, Howard will provide curatorial oversight for the State Historical Museum of Iowa’s collections, which includes over 100,000 objects. She will also represent the society in public and with the media. Howard has a master of arts degree in public history from North Carolina State University and a bachelor of arts degree in history and rhetoric, media, and social change from Drake University. She replaces Leo Landis who is now director of public history with the Wisconsin Historical Society. Howard begins her new role Friday.
