Community Foundation promotes Toribio to chief marketing officer

Emily Toribio has been promoted to chief marketing officer of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. Toribio joined the Community Foundation in January 2024 as vice president of marketing and communications. In her role, she leads strategic communications, oversees outreach and communications for key initiatives and events, and manages external relationships and partnerships. She has 20 years of experience in public relations, internal/external communications, community outreach, project management and creative content strategy. Before joining the Community Foundation, she spent nine years at Fareway Stores, Inc. as director of corporate outreach and communications. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Drake University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State University. She was a member of the 2016 Business Record Forty Under 40 class.
