New interactive map lays out city, county jobless rates in June

217 wordsAll Latest News, Economic DevelopmentIn Marshalltown, 6.4% of people in its labor force were unemployed in June, the highest percentage among Iowa communities, new data from Iowa Workforce Development shows.
Marshall County also had the highest jobless rate among Iowa’s 99 counties with 6.2% of its labor force in June unemployed, the state data shows.
Statewide, 3.7% of Iowa’s workforce was unemployed in June, up slightly from 3.6% in May, data released last week shows.
On Tuesday, the state agency released city and county-level data.
In 2025, Marshalltown and Marshall County recorded the highest unemployment rates in Iowa. In January, the unemployment rate for Marshalltown was 10.9%; for Marshall County, the unemployment rate was 8.8%.
