Iowa Supportive Housing Institute concludes inaugural program

The Iowa Finance Authority and Corporation for Supportive Housing have announced the conclusion of the inaugural Iowa Supportive Housing Institute, a five-month training program aimed at expanding the pipeline of supportive housing projects across the state. The program brought together developers, service providers, property managers and other local partners. Seven teams from communities across Iowa presented development proposals designed to provide permanent, affordable housing with supportive services for Iowans experiencing homelessness. The program was a collaboration between IFA and Corporation for Supportive Housing, a national nonprofit that helps communities advance supportive housing. CSH provided technical assistance to the teams.
The seven teams that participated in the institute are:
- Burlington – City of Burlington, United Way of Southeast Iowa, Midwest Realty Group, Burlington Area Homeless Shelter
- Cedar Rapids – Hawkeye Area Community Action Program
- Davenport (2 teams) – Humility Homes & Gratus Development; Vera French, Quad Cities Housing Council & the Salvation Army
- Des Moines – Anawim Housing, Cutler Development
- Sioux City – City of Sioux City, RentSUX, Heartland Counseling Services
- Waterloo – Friends of the Family, Cedar Valley Housing Corporation
Several of the teams will be showcasing their project proposals at the upcoming HousingIowa Conference on September 3-4. More information about the conference is available at housingiowaconference.com.
