The Iowa Clinic and MercyOne have announced a partnership that aims to expand access to cancer care in Central Iowa. Under the agreement, the Iowa Clinic’s recently expanded team of board-certified hematology oncology physicians will provide medical oncology services and inpatient consultations at MercyOne’s Richard Deming Cancer Center. Additionally, the Iowa Clinic will use radiation oncology space, staff and equipment at MercyOne’s radiation and oncology center in Clive. MercyOne will continue to provide radiation oncology services at this location without interruption. The agreements take effect Sept. 15. “This represents a major step forward in our mission to deliver exceptional care where and when patients need it most,” Ben Vallier, CEO of the Iowa Clinic, said in a prepared statement. “By expanding access to both medical and radiation oncology, we, together with MercyOne, are improving access to local, high-quality cancer care here in Central Iowa.”
