United Way of Central Iowa held its annual Day of Action on Tuesday, where more than 800 volunteers worked on nearly 50 service projects supporting 17 local organizations in Central Iowa. Volunteers helped with projects such as reading with elementary students, revitalizing nonprofit facilities and enhancing outdoor spaces. The collective effort generated an estimated economic impact of more than $74,151, a news release said. Each project was aligned with an element of United Way’s United to Thrive framework. “Day of Action is more than a volunteer event, it’s a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when compassion, purpose, and community come together to create lasting impact,” Mary Sellers, president of United Way of Central Iowa, said in a prepared statement. “It’s a meaningful opportunity for individuals and corporate partners to connect with our community’s needs and take action.”
