Jennifer Schumann has been named general counsel for BH Management and Progress Residential, both Pretium companies.

Pretium acquired BH Management Services in 2024.

According to a news release, Schumann has been with BH since 2018, most recently as general counsel. In her expanded role with Progress Residential, she will provide legal guidance and advice over both company’s operations.

Schumann will oversee both teams’ corporate and regulatory compliance and risk and litigation management, and continue oversight of BH’s acquisition due diligence, insurance needs and real estate transactions.

“Jennifer has proven to be a strong leader for our legal, compliance, risk management, litigation and due diligence teams,” said Joanna Zabriskie, president and CEO of BH Management, in the release. “She will bring her extensive background and knowledge in real estate to her expanded role, overseeing both BH and Progress legal departments.”

Previously, Schumann worked for a real estate developer and property management company handling similar corporate legal needs. Prior to her in-house experience, she worked for several law firms in Chicago handling real estate transactions, community association matters and litigation issues.

Schumann, who earned her law degree from Michigan State University, has been active in the community. She has served on the Easterseals Iowa board of directors since 2018, served as past board president for CREW and on the board of directors for the Des Moines Downtown Chamber.
