The Mutual Group, based in West Des Moines, announced the appointment of Tom Troy as CEO, starting Jan. 5. Troy brings more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with previous senior leadership roles at USAA, CSAA Insurance Group, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, and Safeco Insurance. As CEO, he will oversee the Mutual Group’s strategic direction, platform expansion and efforts to enhance value for its member insurers. He succeeds interim CEO David Charlton, who will continue serving on the company’s board. “With his deep industry expertise, proven leadership and commitment to innovation, Tom is ideally suited to lead The Mutual Group as we accelerate our momentum and enter the next phase of growth,” Chuck Chamness, chairman of the Mutual Group’s board of directors, said in a prepared statement.
