Ertl named to North American board

David Ertl, Iowa Corn’s technology commercialization manager, has been named to the executive board of the North American Plant Phenotyping Network, an industry organization for scientists and researchers. Plant phenotyping involves analyzing observable plant characteristics. The idea is to advance new corn traits. Ertl’s responsibilities include developing new technology, obtaining patents and licensing technology to commercial providers. Previously, Ertl worked at DuPont Pioneer as a corn breeder and later as a research director. During his time there, he helped develop commercial corn hybrids, and was involved in 15 patents.
