Many Greater Des Moines students had last week off from class and, as a result, a lot of parents/workers had spring break off as well.

If you missed Iowa news and business news, here’s a roundup of some headlines from last week to help you get caught up. It’s certainly not comprehensive, but it will get you started.

— Today’s a key day for lawmakers at the Statehouse and for those running for governor. The Des Moines Register has these two summaries of news: “What survived the Iowa Legislature’s 2nd funnel deadline?” and “The Iowa primary ballot is coming together.”

— It was also a busy week last week for legislators in another way — new leadership in the Republican-led Senate, with writing from the Cedar Rapids Gazette

— The Register also had an in-depth background piece on Eddie Tipton and the “biggest lottery scam in U.S. history.”

— CNN has this story on what would have been the largest tech deal ever — “Broadcom officially ends bid for Qualcomm.”

— A bright spot for the week: Spring is coming (article from Time).
