Ankeny businesses are promoting a new contest designed to connect young Iowans with businesses and careers they want to learn more about. Each month, one winner between the ages of 16 and 24 will visit a participating Ankeny business of his or her choice and meet with its CEO for “Brunch with the Boss.” The contest is sponsored by Ankeny Economic Development Corp. “Teachers and the internet can provide endless information, but it is nothing like walking in and shaking hands with the boss,” said Dave Nelson, president of cybersecurity firm Pratum, one of the participating companies. Other companies participating are Accumold, AgVision, Casey’s General Stores, DRA Properties, John Deere Des Moines Works, Karl Chevrolet and Snyder & Associates.
