Centene subsidiary wins Medicaid contract for Iowa

106 wordsAll Latest News, Health and Wellness, Insurance, Statewide NewsSt. Louis-based Centene announced that its subsidiary, Iowa Total Care, has been tentatively awarded a contract for Iowa’s privately managed Medicaid program, bringing the total number of administrators in the state to three, the Corridor Business Journal reported. Pending regulatory approval, the contract is expected to commence on July 1, 2019. Centene, one of the nation’s largest health care providers, will replace AmeriHealth, which withdrew from IA Health Link effective Nov. 30, 2017, as a managed care provider. Iowa Total Care will join private insurers Amerigroup of Iowa and United Healthcare of the River Valley in serving the more than 600,000 Medicaid members in the state.
