Three finalists for vacancy on Iowa Supreme Court
A state nominating commission has chosen the names of the three finalists — all women — for the next Iowa Supreme Court justice, reports the Des Moines Register. The commission chose District Court Judge Susan Christensen of Harlan; attorney Terri Combs, a West Des Moines attorney in private practice with Faegre Baker Daniels LLP; and Chief District Court Judge Kellyann Lekar of Waterloo as the finalists. Commissioners interviewed 21 candidates and reviewed candidates’ written applications. One of the three finalists will fill the high court vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Bruce Zager in September.
