Jeffrey Rose has left First Bank in West Des Moines to be president and CEO of Southeast National Bank, which is based in Davenport and has four locations in the Quad Cities. First Bank, whose finances have been troubled by delinquent commercial loans, reported net income of $329,000 at the end of 2010 after a nearly $5 million loss in the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2009. Rose had been First Bank’s chief executive since Sept. 1, 2010. William Messerschmidt, whose family has owned the bank since 1939 and who is its chief financial officer, said he is serving as interim president. The bank has not set a timetable on its search for Rose’s replacement, he said. Taking note of the bank’s return to profitability, Messerschmidt said, “We’re making a lot of progress. We have positive things going on here, so we are excited.” Southeast National Bank was founded in 1999 and on Dec. 31, 2010, reported assets of $135 million and net income of $663,000. Rose said he wants to expand the bank’s commercial and consumer loan portfolios.
