ACLU gives Johnston award to Nixon Peabody partners
ACLU of Iowa will present its Dan Johnston Cooperating Attorney Award to Nixon Peabody partners Seth Horvath, Thomas Hecht and Tina Solis. The team of Chicago-based attorneys worked on transgender rights lawsuits in Iowa challenging denial of coverage under Medicaid. In March, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the denial was discriminatory and a violation of the Iowa Civil Rights Act. The attorneys will receive the award at the Iowa Bill of Rights Brunch on Oct. 12. The three volunteered hundreds of hours.
