AIB campus donation on Regents Oct. 21 agenda; DM school may keep buildings on southeast corner
The Iowa Board of Regents intends to vote Oct. 21 on whether to approve an AIB College of Business plan to donate most of its 20-acre, $21.6 million Des Moines campus to the University of Iowa for use as a regents center offering courses from UI and possibly Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa. The meeting will be held at the Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City. The draft agreement generally follows details reported earlier. AIB, which already is selling apartment buildings on the southwest corner of campus, has decided to assess whether it needs to withhold the apartments on the southeast corner to meet financial obligations. A UI review of the campus found the buildings sound, but the university wants to make more than $215,000 in improvements to the fire safety systems. Read the regents’ report.
