Airport receives transportation funding
Des Moines International Airport has received funding from the Iowa Transportation Commission for two improvement projects.
The airport received $83,027 to remove and replace pavement markings, which covers about half the total cost of the project.
The airport was also granted $568,101 toward a $5.2 million project to install a parking garage bridge and construct a new fixed-based operator bulding.
The commission awarded a total of $5.6 million to airports around the state through the Fiscal Year 2013 State Aviation Program. Funding for the program and its sub-projects comes from fuel taxes and airplane registration fees.
